Thanks for your reply. I have two laptops and both show the same blank grey window of a YouTube video. Regards, Jim. Here is some more information. I installed Google Chrome on one of my laptops.
The YouTube that won't play in IE 11 plays just fine in Google Chrome. That means there is something in IE 11 that is causing the problem. Let me state the problem again. Windows 8.1 is up to date on all updates. IE 11 is update on all updates. YouTube video plays without problem if I click on a link to a YouTube on a search page.
That is, if I do a search using IE 11 and a YouTube video is one of the items that show up, it plays with no problems. But, a forum I use has a feature that allows posters to include YouTube videos in a post. If I open such a post, the YouTube window is just a grey box with no video. But, if I open the post while using Google Chrome, the video plays with no problems. Can anyone offer a solution?
Hi, Thanks for your feedback. If this issue happens on multiple machines and Internet explorer, there might be compatibility issues or some Widget doesn’t run properly in Internet explorer. Have you try the troubleshooting steps as mentioned in my last reply? Especially Test the video in Compatibility View Turn on/off ActiveX filtering and Tracking Protection If the issue still persists, we might need the forum address for test. If you have feedback for TechNet Support, contact tnmff@microsoft.com. Hi, Tracking Protection helps prevent information about your browsing from being sent to third–party content providers on sites you visit. Think of a Tracking Protection Lists as a “do not call” list. Internet Explorer blocks any third–party content from sites on the list.
Since we have found the root cause, if you need that 3rd party website could be called from other site. Just disable it from using.
